Amayui Labyrinth Meister - Complete English Patch

This is a post announcing the release of the Complete English Patch for Amayui Labyrinth Meister. This consists of the following:
  • The English Dialogue Patch mentioned in the previous post.
  • ZAP's Interface Patch.
  • All of the H scenes, which were previously compiled into an unannounced H Scene Patch for testing purposes.
    • This contains the remaining ~4078 lines, or 15.26% of the dialogue.
  • The Complete English Patch still has errors, but many have been reported and fixed.
Once again, this is not to be confused with the MTL patch released by Ars_Arcanum.

Download and Install Instructions

Download Link (it's the same link as last time, but I moved the folders around.)

For players who already have the game installed, follow only step 6 of the install instructions unless you also need to install Append content.

Note that updating the dialogue files at all (which this patch does) will probably make any save in the middle of a dialogue sequence unplayable. This issue appears to be unique to this Eushully game. Please do not save during a dialogue sequence.

Install the game and its components in the following order:
  1. Install the base game.
  2. Install Append 1
  3. Install Patch 1.03
  4. Install Append 2
  5. Backup all BIN and AGF files in the game folder by copying them into another folder.
  6. Unzip the folder with the Complete Patch and copy its contents into the game folder, overwriting as needed.
As always, remember to install Japanese fonts and run the game while your PC is in Japanese locale (or use a locale emulator). Do not enable the Unicode-8 compatibility option if you set your system locale to Japanese!! This should address most common issues with running the game.

Credits

This specific patch would not have been possible without the help of many people:
  • Asmodean and SaintLouisX, for developing the tools that allow data files to be accessed and edited.
  • Zoltanar for the Interface Patch (which was also worked on by myself, Syuya, and Danielson) and also for providing a vital tool that greatly improved the efficiency of the translation process and will make future proofreading easier.
  • Beetz, Danielson, and others for going above and beyond in terms of providing moral support and bug reports.
  • The rest of the Eushully Crew Discord for providing moral support and a platform to promote the patch. While bug reports have slowed down (most of the Castle Meister issues have been addressed at this point to be fair), they are quite helpful for getting necessary fixes implemented.
  • Rhapsody Translation for also providing moral support and a little translation help, among other things.
With this, the translation of Amayui Labyrinth Meister has more or less been finished, minus obligatory bug fixing, Below are some future plans and candid personal statements regarding why the H scenes took so long to translate. There will also be some self-promotion. I strongly recommend against scrolling down any further unless you're interested in reading me ramble about various things for some reason.

Upcoming Plans

First of all, as I also mentioned in my previous post, I plan on making a censor patch for both Amayui Castle Meister and Amayui Labyrinth Meister. The primary goal is to hopefully make the games a bit more friendly to do videos and streams of on public platforms such as Youtube and Twitch. However, given how both platforms are inconsistent in enforcing their policies, there is no guarantee as to whether any sort of censor patch will help. Making the game more attractive to play for people who aren't so interested in high levels of sexual content is a nice bonus. In any case, these patches are obviously going to be separate, standalone patches. I'm unsure where people are getting the idea that I would ever integrate it into the translation patches.

As for what is censored, I have already found a way to automatically skip H scenes and will probably add some generic placeholder image over every H scene since it's easier to put in. Beyond that, any obvious nudity is obviously going to be censored (most likely with black bars since I have no creativity), but I don't plan to alter suggestive content such as the following:
Why would I mess with Anya Fia in all her glory?
I've seen CGs from game series such as Atelier that are more inappropriate and suggestive than these...

Furthermore, I believe that reversing the censorship is important, so I also want to develop censor removal patches at the same time. Fortunately, this part is pretty easy and just involves tracking and retaining original copies of the modified files. Finally, I have no idea when I'll release this if at all. This was always more of a random side project idea and will relate to something I mention later.

Second of all, regarding future translation projects, I am more than happy to help Zoltanar out with interface patches for future (or maybe past) Eushully games. I also don't mind advising people working on their own translation projects (for example, one of the Eushully Crew members, Redbeard, is translating Soukoku no Arterial). However, in response to some requests to translate other games, I have no plans to do so as volunteer work at the moment. I may consider accepting paid commissions, but this is not a guarantee either.

Personal Ramblings and Self-Promotion

Considering how quickly the dialogue of Amayui Labyrinth Meister was translated (even if it was slower than the Chinese TL), some may wonder why it took longer to finish translating the H scenes, which is less than 20% of the game's content. This is mostly due to how I approached the two parts of the translation project. I actually translated the dialogue of the non-scene sections of the game at something resembling a full-time pace, which was possible thanks to my life situation at the time.

However, my life situation changed after the dialogue translation was done and admittedly, this was planned to a degree. My reasoning was that many people would be fine with having non-scene dialogue for a while but given the popularity of the dialogue patch, it is uncertain if this reasoning is true. In any case, I took a more relaxed approach to translating the H scenes and worked on other efforts that ranged from participating in the gig economy to trying a hand at streaming again.

This brings me to what is more or less the point of this section. Now that the Amayui Labyrinth Meister translation patch is completed (it's unlikely that the game has any more appends), I personally believe it's perfectly reasonable to self-promote a little more aggressively than I already have on the Eushully Crew Discord. Regulars of the Discord server are more or less aware of this, but I also go by the name of "Interest" online - I primarily invented the alias "Depravity" for activities involving 18+ content online, but since I am often openly degenerate anyway, I see no reason to use the alias as a cloak and ultimately have come to like using both names.

The above should help clear up any confusion when I mention that I variety stream regularly at this particular Twitch channel. All I ask is that you give the stream a chance, especially if you are in a charitable mood. You are not obligated to watch if you don't like it or are not interested. I may eventually toss up a donate link on Twitch but for now, I still generally don't accept donations unless you want to cheer Bits or something. Also, if the censor patches ever get made - there is no guarantee they will be made - perhaps I may stream both Amayui games someday.
